After a couple of years, I have tested, reworked, and developed my perfectly textured granola recipe that is allergy friendly and proved itself to be the best granola ever. I want to share with you my basic recipe for making the granola as well as some delicious variations of textures and flavor combinations. Whether you love sweet chewy granola clusters to grab as a snack or crunchy granola crumbles to sprinkle on top of your breakfast smoothie bowl, you will love this recipe!
Basic Recipe ☆ Tried And True
Serves: One 32 ounce mason jar
Ingredients:
5 Tablespoons raw local honey
1/4 teaspoon 100% pure vanilla extract
1 cup quick 1-minute oats
1/2 cup shredded wheat cereal
1/2 cup puffed rice cereal
ground cinnamon to taste
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat.
Pour the honey and vanilla extract into a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds or until the honey becomes liquidated.
Crush the shredded wheat cereal into shreds and add to a large bowl. Add the oats, puffed rice cereal, and ground cinnamon. Mix together to evenly distribute the ground cinnamon.
Pour the dry mixture into the bowl of liquid honey.
Combine everything together using a rubber spatula being sure the honey coats all of the dry ingredients evenly. The consistency will be thick and sticky.
Spread the combined ingredients onto the silicone baking mat towards the center. You can lay the mixture out into multiple cluster shapes or thinly spread into an even layer.
Bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes for a softer more chewy granola or 20-25 minutes for a crunchy more crumbly granola. Occasionally flip the granola mixture with a spatula to help cook evenly in the oven and prevent certain areas from burning.
